Full name: Anita Claire (McDonald) Snow
But please call me: Anita
Born where and when: Mt. Vernon, Ohio; July xx
Family facts: I am the youngest of five children. My oldest brother is 24 years older than I and my sister closest to me is 12 years older than me. I have another sister and a brother between them. I was born in July and my parents turned 43 in August and September. I became an Aunt at two years old and a Great Aunt at 29! I met my husband, Kyle, the summer I turned 19, we dated for five years and have been married for over 11 years. We have been blessed with three amazing children, Caleb 8 yrs., Elijah 5 yrs., and Ella Grace 18 months.
Education: Utica High School, Graduated 1991; Muskingum College, Graduated 1995 (B.A. Communications/Business); Mt. Vernon Nazarene University, Graduated December, 2007 - Masters in Education
How I became a Christian: I grew up in a Christian home attending Sunday School, VBS and Youth Group at the Utica United Methodist Church. In some ways I've always been a Christian but I fully grasped what that meant to me during my Emmaus Walk in November of 2003.
How I ended up at First Church: Kyle and I started dating the summer of 1992, and it was during our courtship that I would attend First Church on my weekends home from Muskingum College. We started teaching Sunday School in 1995, and I became a member in the Spring of 1996.
The most important thing I do around here is: create an environment for our children that encourages and promotes their faith journey. This includes being the support system for our amazing Children's Ministry volunteers who give of their time and talents to share God's love with our children.
My vision for the future of First Church is: I envision thriving Children's and Family Ministries programs that draw people to the church, excited to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Programs that are active within the walls of the church, and spread into the homes of those we touch. A place where children and parents explore God's love in their own spaces while also having opportunities to worship together. A church that crosses generational divides and ties people together. First Church of the future: an active, happening, exciting, loving, musical, thriving place where people want to be!
One way folks can pray for me is: I would like to have prayers for the children of FUMC as they Explore God's Love and what it means to be loved and to love God. I would like prayers asking for guidance, direction, and wisdom as we grow and nurture our Children's and Family Ministries.
